Innovations Seen in US Railroad Topical Stamps

Bill DeWitt

Tuesday, October 20, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. (EDT)

United States railroads, significant for the movement of U.S. Mail for 150 years, have been innovators for transportation. This presentation will discuss railroad locomotive innovation from the age of steam in the early 1800s to the era of internal combustion engines as seen in U.S. topical stamps.

An ATA board member, Bill is active in numerous philatelic organizations, including the Brandywine Valley Stamp Club, The Philatelic Gathering and APS. He is a long-time collector of US transportation related philately. Before his retirement he was a professor at several universities, including the University of Denver and the Maine Maritime Academy, where he taught transportation and logistics. He also held numerous executive positions with the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Once you have registered, you will receive the log in information for this session.
